Scotland offers some of the most dramatic and unspoilt sporting landscapes in Europe. The Scottish Highlands and Islands are synonymous with driven grouse shooting, red deer stalking and salmon fishing, while the Borders and Lowlands provide outstanding driven pheasant and partridge.
From the vast grouse moors of Angus and Perthshire to the remote deer forests of Inverness-shire and Sutherland, Scottish sporting estates span hundreds of thousands of acres of heather, glen and mountain. The Speyside and Cairngorms regions combine world-class sport with spectacular Highland scenery, and the islands of the west coast offer exceptional walked-up shooting for woodcock, snipe and wildfowl.
Many Scottish estates offer traditional sporting hospitality in historic lodges and castles, with stalking, fishing and shooting often available on the same ground. The grouse season opens on 12th August, with pheasant and partridge from 1st October and deer stalking from July through to February depending on the species.
