England is home to some of the finest driven game shooting in the world. From the legendary grouse moors of Yorkshire and Northumberland to the towering pheasants of the West Country and the wild grey partridge of East Anglia, English sporting estates offer an extraordinary breadth of shooting experiences.
The rolling chalk downlands of Hampshire and Wiltshire produce testing partridge and high pheasant, while the deep valleys of Devon, Somerset and the Cotswolds are renowned for their stratospheric birds. Further north, the Pennines and North York Moors host some of the most productive driven grouse moors in Britain, with estates that have been managed for sport for centuries.
The shooting season runs from 1st October for pheasant and partridge through to 1st February, with grouse shooting beginning on the Glorious Twelfth of August. Many English estates combine world-class sport with outstanding hospitality, from grand country house lunches to cosy shoot room suppers.
